One thing for sure Emery. You can't accuse the Witnesses of having no class.

Flirting with going Vegetarian, anyone of you ever graduate from simply thinking about it?
by Theocratic Sedition init's just a thought right now, but one of those thoughts where i have that itch.
it's that same itch felt before i purchase something major.
i'm just wondering what i might be getting into based upon others experiences in this regard.

I know what you are saying Dario but also notice here that those who eat meat are rubbing their meat eating in the face of someone who is just thinking about going vegetarian. I see this all the time. I think most people don't want to think about where their meat comes from. Look up gestation crates and you'll get an idea of how these animals are abuse before they show up nicely packaged in the supermarket. It is a far cry from the methods used a hundred years ago or by a hunter whose prey is living a normal, probably happy existance up till the moment it is killed.

For some reason a lot of people get very defensive when you find out you don't eat meat and feel the need to justify their eating of meat by getting some kind of dig in with a horror story about someone they know who is a vegetarian who looks sick or is too fat or looks unhealthy or is too thin. The answer to this. "Hey dumb ass, how may people do you know who eat meat look sick or are fat or are too thin? People stop eating meat for all sorts of reason. Some people aren't against eating meat just the inhumane way we get it from factory farms rather than hunting it ourselves. Some people go vegatarian because of heath issues. Some people feel we shouldn't eat anything that has a mother. All I can say is try it and see if it works for you. If it doesn't then McDonald's will be waiting with open arms to welcom you back. Oh, and so will the surgeon who performs the triple bypasses.

I went vegetarian, mostly vegan last January right after I ate all the crap I bought for the holidays. I'm really enjoying it. I went veg about ten years ago but drifted back to meat eating. I did lose weight and felt real good on it but back then there were fewer options as Wha Happened mentioned. Now it is pretty easy. When I first went vegan (mostly) last year I had a Vegas trip planned. We stayed at the Wynnn because Steve Wynn is a Vegan so he sees to it that his hotels have great vegan options. We had no problem finding great meals. If you like to cook it can be a lot of fun and makes the tranistion easier. There are so many good cook books out there. Here are some of the ones I like:
Cooking Vegan for Carnivores by Roberto Martin. The Sexy Vegan by Brian Patton. Brian has some very funny videos on Youtube. Everytime I ask him something on facebook he replies..great guy. The Happy Herbivore, Linsay Nixon has some good books. Anything by Isa Chandra Moskowitz is wonderful. Cloe's Kitchen is great. The best way to go vegan overall is the way recommended by: Forks over Knives, Engine 2, Mcdougall etc.
All of these people have websites or blogs. Isa Chandra's is the Post Punk Kitchen. If you are on facebook and type in vegan you'll find a lot of helpful information. Some good places to check out there are: Vegetarians in Paradise, Post Punk Kitchen, Sexy Vegan, Eco-Vegan Gal.
PM me if you want to talk further about this.

My Near Death Experience
by Dogpatch inhi y'all, just wanted to let you know i was out for a stroll on my bicycle for exercise last week and got hit by a car 100 yards from my house.
it was a hit and run.
i got up with only minor bruises but felt really dizzy and asked one of my roommates to take me to the hospital as i was dizzy and felt i was going to pass out on the spot in the middle of the street.

Sorry to hear of all your troubles Randy. I hope and pray that this is the end of them. That hospital sounds awful. It should be held accountable for their bad service and negligence.

Can an inactive one be DFed?

Whether you are df'd or not most JW will have nothing to do with you if you leave the organization. It's the price you pay for freedom of thought and being true to yourself.
The Watchtower says that they have no membership so I've always felt how can they kick you out of an organization that you never really joined. If they say but you were baptized I would reply that the baptism was obtained under false pretences. They misrepesented themselves as a truthful organization that God select. They aren't truthful and it is easy to prove that God never selected them. They lied on the contract so I don't see why anyone would consider it valid.
Just how I feel I'm sure not everyone would agree.
One more thing as far as dfing goes I df'd the Watchtower. Not the other way around. And I highly recommend it.
